2001-2002 Season

Quincy 7  -  Falmouth 1
For the second straight year, the Clippers season ended at the hands of Quincy. The tandem of Matt and Dave Germain, each with hat tricks, with help from goalie Shaun Flaherty put an end to Falmouth's tournament run. The first period saw Falmouth come out flying and out shooting the Presidents by a 19-9 margin but Flaherty managed to keep the Clippers off the board. It was Dave Germain that would give Quincy a 1-0 lead. Falmouth had just managed to get an odd man rush but Quincy made the most of the transition an broke in on their own 2-1. Matt fed brother Dave with a perfect pass that never gave Mike Mastriano a chance.
Falmouth had gotten off to slow starts in many games this season only to come storming back but it wasn't going to happen tonight. Just :43 seconds into the 3rd period Matt gave Quincy a 2-0 lead. Then with just :05 seconds remaining Matt would score again and the Presidents would take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
As coach Buddy Ferreira said "that was the back breaker" as Quincy would score 2 more in the first 3:12 of the third. Colin Reposa would team up with Jason Reid and Scott Truax to make it 5-1. The door was then slammed shut as Matt Germain would score twice in an :08 second span to finish off the scoring and the Clippers 7-1. George Costa came in to finish the night and made a few nice saves that kept it from getting worse. Mastriano played well in net for Falmouth but Quincy's snipers just proved to be too much.
Congratulations to the Clippers on a fine season and we all look forward to next year. This team has a solid core of young talent that should make for yet another OCL title contender and I'm sure another run for the State title. Thanks for all of your hard work this season. I enjoyed watching every minute you played.

Archbishop Williams 4  -  Falmouth 0
The Clippers dropped their second game in a row, this time at the hands of Archbishop Williams at the Cape Cod Classic last night in Falmouth. The first period saw Falmouth get off to a slow start and the Bishops pressed the action for most of the period comming away with a one goal lead. In the second it seemed as though there had been a wakeup call but they had a hard time getting any real quality shots off. The Archies however manged two goals that beat Mike Mastriano, who replaced George Costa after the first. Both goals never gave him a chance as they were set up perfectly. In the third Falmouth carried the play with the best chance of the night coming when Erik Marr stole the puck at the visitors blue line and headed in alone. His short handed bid hit the crossbar and defelected into the seats. Archbishop Williams added one more in the third for the 4-0 final.
The Clippers will take on Barnstable (a 4-1 loser to Hingham) at 1:00 PM on Friday. The Red Raiders need a win to qualify for state tournament play which starts next week.

Arlington Catholic 5  -  Falmouth 0
Facing one of the best teams in the state, Falmouth lost their first round game in the Cape Cod Classic by a score of 5-0 to Arlington Catholic. The Clippers put in a strong effort but just couldn't get around a tough AC defense that managed to get a stick on everything in their zone. Joe Piekos scored the only goal of the first period on a 2-1 breakaway and beat Mike Mastriano with a perfect shot to the top corner.
The Clippers managed to get a respectable number of shots on net in the second frame but it was the Courgers that netted the goals. Piekos collected a pure hattrick when he scored the next 2 AC goals to make it 3-0.
It appeared that this game would end at 3-0 but late in the 3rd Chris Moran picked up #4 for AC and with just :18 seconds left Vince Rinaldi  got the final of the night to make it 5-0. Mastriano play a tough game in net and looked solid all night.
The Clippers will face Archbishop Williams next after they dropped a 1-0 decision to Duxbury earlier in the evening. AW has an outstanding goalie and the key to beating them will be to get on the board early. Game time is at 3:00 PM.

Falmouth 4  -  Barnstable 2
For the fourth time in a row and the 8th time in nine years, the Clippers are again the Old Colony League Ice Hockey Champs. With a work ethic that I feel is unequaled by past teams, this years Clippers just never stop coming at you. If not for the outstanding play of Barnstable net minder Mike Kennedy this game could have easily been a very lopsided contest as the Clippers outshot the Red Raiders 54-13.
Barnstable started off the scoring in the first when Andy Barron scored at the 2:58 mark and the Raiders were able to carry that lead into the locker room. Falmouth would come out in the second and Garrett Carlson would even things up off a nice give and give and give and go with Tim Miller. Barnstable was able to get that back when Tim Grace beat George Costa on their first shot on net for the second period. Jason Reid would tie it up at 2-2 when he redirected in a Colin Reposa pass with 3:01 left in the second period.
The 3rd period would belong to the Clippers as they outshot Barnstable by a 22-5 margin. PJ Lovett would break the tie when he put a check on a Raider behind his own goal, took control of the puck and wrapped around the net to Kennedy's right and stuffed it in. Pat Laffan would get the insurance goal on a slap shot from the point just :35 seconds later.

Falmouth 8 - Plymouth South 2
Tim Studley had a big night for the Clippers as he scored 1 goal and assisted on 4 others to help lead Falmouth to an 8-2 win over Plymouth South. PJ Lovett did what he has so often this year when he scored the teams first goal of the night to put Falmouth up 1-0 just :36 seconds into the game. Justin Liatsis would add another at 4:20 and the Clippers would head to the locker room with a 2-0 lead after out shooting the Panthers by a 18-5 margin.
Erik Marr would get things rolling in the 2nd with the first of his 2 goals on the night but PS would close the gap to 3-1 when sniper Damon Britto would score at 5:16 and just :18 seconds later he would make it 3-2. Tim Studley, who has really been productive of late, would make it 4-2 to close out the period.
It would take until the 3rd period for Falmouth to put this one out of reach. Garrett Carlson started things off just 2:24 in. Marr would collect his second of the night and Studley getting the assist. At 9:17 Lovett would make it 7-2 on his second goal and Jason Reid would finish things off at the 9:29 mark to give the Clippers the 8-2 OCL win. Mike Mastriano would collect his second win in back to back starts while making 16 saves. Falmouth would out shoot the Panthers by a 46-18 margin.
Next up for the Clippers will be OCL and Cape rival Barnstable at Falmouth Ice Arena on Saturday. A win will give the Clippers sole possession of the OCL title and the Red Raiders will be looking for a win that will qualify them for the state tournament. Tell me this won't be a great game.

Falmouth 7 - Taunton 0
The Clippers may have started off slow but they finished big against the winless Tigers of Taunton. Colin Reposa continued his scoring streak and started things off with the Clippers first goal of the night just 1:26 into the first period but couldn't get one by Tiger goalie Nevin Frates the rest of the period.
In the second it was a bit different as the Clippers rang up 3 more. PJ Lovett started things off just :55 seconds into the period and :26 seconds later it was Jason Reid making it 3-0 in Favor of the Clippers. Falmouth poured 24 shots on net in the second period but it wasn't until 13:48 in the Lovett collected a unassisted goal for his second of the night.
the third period was almost a carbon copy of the 2nd as the Clippers rang up 3 more goals. Reid made it 4-0 with his second of the night. Justin Liatsis made it 5-0 and a hot Tim Studley got the final goal of the night 12:19 into the 3rd. Mike Mastriano (2 periods) and Tom Duffy combined for the team's 6th shutout of the season.
The Clippers will next travel to Plymouth South to take on a unpredictable Panthers team. After helping Falmouth's cause by tying Marshfield 6-6, they dropped an 8-2 decision to N Quincy last night. Mike Mastriano would make his second consecutive start and pick up his second win in a row making 16 saves on the night. The Clippers again outshot their opponents by a large margin with the total on the night being Falmouth 46 shots to the Panther's 18.
Next up for the Clippers will be OCL and Cape rival Barnstable at Falmouth Ice Arena. The Clippers need at least a tie to guarentee a share of the league title and Barnstable needs the win to make the State tournament.

First period: 1. Colin Reposa (Chris Tholke), 1:26.
Second period: 2. PJ Lovett (Steve Driscoll), 0:55;

Falmouth 5  -  Silver Lake 5
In what had to be one of the most exciting High School hockey games I have had the opportunity to watch this year, Falmouth came back with a 3rd period rally to tie Silver Lake 5-5 in Falmouth last night. The action was fast and the hits were hard as both teams played a great game of hockey.
The Lakers, after opening the door for Falmouth to make a run at their 4th consecutive OCL title, tried to slam it shut last night but the Clippers were up to the task and rose to the occasion. In the first it was SL getting on the board late when they broke in on Falmouth's George Costa on a 2 on 1. Costa made the stop but Todd Costa managed to pop in the rebound. Costa would score again in the 1st when a clearing attempt was intercepted in Falmouth's zone.
The Clippers would finally get on the board 1:32 in when Colin Reposa would receive a nice feed in front to beat Jeff Fox 5 hole. Silver Lake made it 3-1 when Ryan Flately slid in a loose puck during a scrum in front of the net. Two minutes later it was the Clippers, or more accurately it was PJ Lovett when he took the face off in the SL zone. At the drop of the puck he headed straight to the net and beat Fox high to the glove side.  With just under 2 minutes left and SL on the power play Kevin Roche one timed a centering pass and sent the Lakers into the locker room up 4-2.
Expecting to see Falmouth come out fired up it was the Lakes that scored. At 2:38 they started in on a 3 on 1 break. Anthony Mitchell let go with a steaming wrist shot that beat Costa to the blocker side and Falmouth was down 5-2. Quit was not in their vocabulary and the Clippers stormed back. Eric Marr started things when he received a pretty feed from behind the net from Lovett and beat Fox. The next goal wasn't as pretty but it counted as Jason Reid  found the loose puck in a scramble out front and Falmouth pulled to within 1 with 10:49 to go. Costa had been pulled in favor of Mike Mastriano and he came up big when the Lakers managed another break away but Mastriano made the save. With 3:48 to go it was Reposa tieing things up. He had been flying around the zone, digging in the corners, and his hard work paid off when his shot off the 3rd rebound trickled under Fox.
The Clippers out shot Silver Lake 23 - 16 on the night and 10-4 in the 3rd period. I'm sure the players on both teams might be disappointed but all of you guys played a heck of a game from a fans perspective.

Falmouth 12 - N Quincy 0
Special Thanks to Rich Maclone and the Falmouth Enterprise for the game info.

The Clippers shut out the Red Raiders of N. Quincy for the second time in as many games. Missing 5 of their 6 top guns due to rules violations, the Clippers had their way with the short handed Raiders. Although the score might not reflect this, North's starting goalie Bruce Maggio had a outstanding first period, turning away 14 out of 15 shots and it wasn't until the final :38 seconds that Falmouth got on the board to make it 1-0. Collin Reposa started things off when he collect a feed from Justin Laitsis after he had denied a clearing pass and sent it back in to Reposa, who's shot trickled in past Maggio.
Things would only get better for Falmouth in the second as they came out on fire pouring 24 shots on net and collecting 5 goals to put them up 6-0 after 2. Because of the number of goals I'll list the names of the players who scored and assisted but you'll have to read Rich Maclone's story in the Falmouth Enterprise on Friday to get all the juicy details.
The 3rd period it only got worse for NQ as Falmouth managed 6 more goals. As lop sided as this game was Coach Ferreira has praise for his team for passing on some shot opportunities that could have been perceived as trying to rub NQ's noses in it. Here are some stats from the game.

01/26/02
Falmouth 5  -  Bridgewater Raynham 0
I couldn't make the game last night but here are some details that Rich M has forwarded to me. Falmouth took a 1-0 lead in the first period when Tim Harrington made a nice defensive play in the neutral zone when he intercepted a BR pass and kicked it ahead to PJ Lovett. While moving in the zone down the left wing side, Lovett centers a pass to Tim Studley who redirected it in. Falmouth out shot BR 12-4 in the first.
In the second period Erik Marr showed some smart play making when on the power play he held the puck long enough to give Scott Truax a chance to head for the net. Marr hit Truax with the pass who let loose with a wrister from 15 feet out to make it 2-0 Clippers.
Again, this time in the 3rd, Lovett sends a centering pass to Studley while a BR player climbs up his back and rings up his second goal of the night. Falmouth went up 4-0 when Tholke pounced on the rebound of a Colin Reposa shot during another power play. In all Bridgewater Raynham had 12 penalties on the night, Falmouth had 3. The final goal of the night came at the 10:09 mark when Lovett's forechecking created a turnover and he slid in alone on the goalie and popped in a backhand to the 5 hole.
The Clippers will travel to N Quincy on Wednesday to take on the Red Raiders. N Quincy looks to get back on track after suffering a 8-2 loss to cross town rival Quincy on Saturday.

Falmouth 5 - Barnstable 2
In fog bound Kennedy Memorial Rink, the Clippers claimed another league win over arch rival Barnstable 5-2. Falmouth struck first with 6:32 to go in the first period when Carrett Carlson picked up a puck, after turning a Barnstable 2 on 1 into a Falmouth 2 on 1,  that had been blocked by a sprawling Raider defenseman and lifted it past goalie Mike Kennedy. Defense was the name of the game as both teams didn't manage many shots on net. Falmouth out shot Barnstable by a 8-5 margin in the first but did control the puck for most of the period.
Chris Tholke would put the Clippers up 2-0 on a laser of a shot from the top of the face off circle that Kennedy never had a chance on. Erik Marr would make it 3-0 when he jumped on a rebound and rang up his 6th goal of the season. Just 1:34 later Barnstable would get on the board when Tim Grace would net his first of two on the night. But Falmouth came right back to make it 4-1 just 2:00 minutes later as Tholke collect his second of the night. Pat Laffan let go with a shot but Tholke was there to poke in the rebound. Barnstable showed they weren't going to just lie down and with just :46 seconds to go in the middle period Grace collected his second on the night when he jumped on the rebound of a shot.
This Falmouth team knows that when they work, they are tough to beat and work they did in the 3rd. The defense came up big and never let Barnstable get any type of offensive threat going, limiting them to only 2 shot in the period. On the best chance of the period for Barnstable, a cleared puck got behind the defense and a deep Raider was after it. Costa, seeing that it was  going to be a 1 on none, headed up the ice and beat the raider to the puck and poked it away just inside the blue line. With just under a minute to play, Kennedy was pulled for the extra attacker. With Scott Truax deep in his own zone he bounce the puck off the boards at mid ice the hit the net dead center. The Clippers out shot Barnstable 30-11 for the game and showed their commitment to playing hard for 3 full periods every game.
Next up for the Clippers is Bridgewater Raynham. The Trojans knocked off Silver Lake 1-0 in their last game and have shown improvement as the season progresses.

01/19/02
Falmouth 5 - Plymouth South 2
With losses to Marshfield and Silver Lake still ringing in their ears, the Falmouth Clippers have made an obvious commitment to show this league that they won't let it happen again. A hungry and hustling Clippers team put the pressure to Plymouth South from the opening face-off and didn't let up all night. While coach Buddy Ferreira may see some flaws, for the most part, this was a solid team effort. It took a while for falmouth to get on the board but the only reason for that was the outstanding play of Panther goalie Sean Ryan as he turned away 26 of the 27 shots he saw in the first period. At 10:25 Pat Laffan scored when he blasted a slap shot from the point that sailed over the right shoulder of Ryan.
After out shooting your opponents 27-3 in the first period you might get cocky but Falmouth never let up and put up another outstanding effort in the second, out shooting PS 21-7, but it was South that scored next when AJ McCarthy pounced on the puck as it popped out of George Costa's catching glove. Erik Marr was the next Clipper to add to his stats when PJ Lovett broke in 1 on 1. Marr, trailing the play, collected the rebound of Lovett's shot and put the Clippers up 2-1. With 2:56 remaining in the 2nd Pat O'Brien scored a pretty goal when he redirected a pass from Jason Reid off his backhand that slid by the goalie. As the Clippers left the ice in the 2nd they lead 3-1 and had out shot PS 48-10.
Just 3 minutes into the 3rd, Zack Dennis let go with a slapper towards a crowd in front of the net. Lovett just got a small piece of the shot and , ever so slightly, changed the direction of the shot and beat the keeper. Falmouth would add one more with 8:43 to go when Tim Studley popped in the rebound of a Lovett shot. The Panthers would manage one more when CB Vanderburg would beat Tom Duffany on the power play. In all Falmouth out shot Plymouth South by a 56-12 margin.
Next up is the game we all wait for, the Barnstable Red Raiders. Falmouth will travel to the huge ice surface of Kennedy Memorial Rink on Wednesday 01/23 at 8 PM. Barnstable seems to have settled down after a shaky start. Note worthy results for BHS are  2-2 ties vs Marshfield, Silver Lake and Duxbury.

Falmouth 7 - Taunton 0
In a very lop sided contest, the Clippers notched their 3rd league victory of the season by a 7-0 score over Taunton with 13 different players factoring in the scoring. Chris Tholke started things off when he curled around the Taunton defense and slipped in a shot to the far post. Tim Studley picked up his second goal of the season that beat the buzzer by a fraction of a second, making it 2-0 after 1 period of play. The Tigers were lucky to escape only down by 2 as Falmouth out shot them 23-2 in the period and 54-8 in the game. Four of Taunton's shots were actually icing attempts that ended up on net.
Garrett Carlson put Falmouth up 3-0 when he sent a quick back hand shot in that beat the goalie. At the 6:57 mark the Clippers had a goal negated when the ref declared it never crossed the line even thought the goal judge claimed it did. Not to worry because just under a minute later it was Jason Reid getting it back as he kept after a loose puck in the crease to give the Clipper a 4-0 lead. At this point, Falmouth goalie George Costa was replaced by Tom Duffany but he wouldn't see much action as he faced only 3 shots the rest of the game. The hit of the night came when Truax laid out a Tiger that sent him off his feet and into the boards. The kid was heard to say "that kid almost killed me" on his way to the locker room. Lesson #1, keep your head up.
The final frame saw the Clipper slow down the pace a bit but still they out shot Taunton by a 11-2 margin. Justin Liatsis would pick up his first of two goals in the third when PJ Lovett sent him a perfect backhand centring feed that Liatsis one timed for the goal. Erik Marr, who was moved to help improve the depth of the lines, put Falmouth up 6-0 with 8:17 remaining and 3 minutes later it was Liatsis netting his second for the 7-0 final.
Falmouth will play host to a tough Plymouth South team on Saturday evening at 7:15 PM. The Panthers have notched league wins over Silver Lake and N Quincy this season as well as a tie with Barnstable.

Silver Lake 5  -  Falmouth 1
I put off writing this update because I didn't really know how to explaine what happened in Pembroke last night and I still don't know if I can but here goes. The Clippers dropped their second OCL decision in a row to Silver Lake by a 5-1 score at inhospitable Hobomock Ice Arena. The Lakers start the game off by scoreing first but falmouth came right back to tie it up at 1-1 on a goal by Colin Raposa with the assist going to Larry Balbuena. Raposa and Balbuena broke in with a 2 on 1. Raposa held the puck and went 5 hole to put Falmouth on the board. From that point on it was all Lakers. As it has been for years Silver Lake kept a skater behind the Clipper defense and managed to score 3 more goals on odd man rushes. The first period ended 2-1 as the Lakers collected another goal on a 1 on none breakaway.
The second period was much the same with the Clippers never seeming to get any momentum. Any time Falmouth managed to center a pass or get off a shot a Laker seemed to get a stick on it to break up the opportunity. By the end of the 2nd, the Lakers were headed into the locker room with a 4-1 lead.
Finally it seemed Falmouth had picked up the pace but the Lakers were content to just keep iceing the puck and run out the clock. Justin Laitsis tried to spark his team as he started hitting everyone in sight but the fire never ignited. Even though Falmouth managed to outshoot SL by a 10 to 4 margin in the 3rd, very few were solid scoring chances. The Lakers added one more just 1:38 into the 3rd and from that point on just kept dumping the puck back to the Clippers zone.
I have records back to the 98-99 season and this is the first loss to Silver Lake during that period of time and also the first back to back league loss in that same period of time. The Clippers will try to get back on the winning track when they host Taunton on Wednesday 1/12 at 7:15 PM. The Tigers are having another tough season but gave Silver Lake a real battle last week but ran out of gas in the 3rd period.

12/29/01
Duxbury 6  -  Falmouth 4
What a difference a day makes. A team that managed to hold off Barnstable for a tie and looked out of sync came out and played a solid hockey game for the better part of 3 periods and take a win out of the Falmouth Ice Arena. Just :17 seconds into the first period Duxbury's Ryan Mahoney let loose with a laser that beat Clipper goal tender George Costa over the right shoulder and set the tone for the next 14:43. The Dragons kept the Clippers back on their heels for most of the period and came up with some quality scoring bids. Two minutes later Duxbury scored again and it stayed 2-0 going into the first intermission.
As to be expected the Clippers came out fired up in the 2nd but it was Kevin Mullins putting the Dragons up 3-0. This period, however was a bit more even and Falmouth's Tim Miller gave the home crowd something to cheer about. After a shot from close range miller was able to get a stick on the loose puck and put it past Duxbury goalie Mike Zarella to make it 3-1. Just 1:43 later Tim Daniels put the Dragons up 4-1 after Costa had made the initial stop but lost it as he crashed into Costa and 2 minutes later another goal made it 5-1 when a player coming of the bench collected a pass behind the Clipper defense and broke in alone on Costa, putting a perfect shot on the top shelf.
Most of the fans might have thought that this one was about over but no one told the Clippers. The constant heavy checks seemed to start to wear down the opposition. After controlling the play in the Duxbury end for most of the period, Falmouth's Justin Liatsis fired in the rebound off a shot from the left of the goalie. You could feel something good was happening and Falmouth was fired up. Less than a minute later PJ Lovet put one upstairs off a beautiful feed from a hustling Eric Marr to make it 5-3 and now the fans had come alive. That energy must have helped because Liatsis collect his second of the night on a power play after collect the rebound of a Collin Raposa shot and laid it in perfectly through the 5 hole. No the place is rocking and Falmouth has managed to get the game back in reach with the score 5-4 and 5:30 to play but Will Thompson put the Dragons up 6-4 when he redirected a pass from the left of Costa, with his skate. The Clippers never quit and managed a few shots off face-offs in the Dragons end but couldn't collect another goal as Duxbury kept dumping the puck to kill off the clock.

Falmouth 7  -  Nauset 1
What do you get when your team skates hard, works hard and plays smart hockey for 3 full periods? A 7-1 victory. That's exactly what the Clippers got tonight against Nauset. Usually I like to point out some of the highlights from the games but it's going to be hard tonight. Every line worked hard every shift and played the physical brand of hockey Falmouth has always been known for.
PJ Lovett got things going on a feed out front from Scott Truax to get things rolling. Lovett received a pass to the left of the goal keeper and moved across the crease. The second the the goalie committed to his left Lovett popped a quick shot through the 5 hole. Just :36 seconds later it was Garrett Carlson lifting one over the goalies right shoulder off the pass from Tom Vickers. Vickers then popped in one of his own with 3:03 remaining in the first and the Clippers headed to the locker room with a 3-0 lead.
In the second period you would have thought that  coach Buddie Ferreira had read them the riot act in the locker room they way the Clippers came out firing but after such a fine first period there is no chance of that. Just :48 second in, Truax collected an unassisted tally to give Falmouth a 5-0 lead. Next it was #12 Colin Raposa (See, I got his number right Mom) finding the back of the net on a wicked wrister from out front with assist going to Tim Miller and Justin Liatsis.. Falmouth then had a chance to work on it's power play and it was Raposa again lighting the lamp and Liatsis getting his third assist of the night. Tim Miller finished off the scoring with 7:20 to go in the second period to make it 7-0 with Raposa and Ross Anderson getting the assist. Nauset managed to stop the shutout when Christopher Custodie scored with 57.9 seconds remaining in the 2nd and on Nauset's 2nd shot of the period
The 3rd period was scoreless but not without plenty of opportunities. Falmouth buzzed the net and kept up a hectic pace throwing 14 shots on net. The Clippers out shot Nauset by a 43-15 margin.
Falmouth will take on the #1 ranked team in division 2 and the preseason favorite to win the D2 state title, Duxbury High School. The Dragons gave Barnstable all it could handle and the Red Raiders were lucky (their assistant coach's words not mine) to get out with a 2-2 tie.

     Falmouth 7  -  Stoughton 1
After putting away Brockton in the first round of the Ryan Bettencourt Memorial Tournament, the Clippers disposed of Stoughton in similar fashion by a score of 7-1. Falmouth put this one out of reach early by ringing up 4 first period goals. Junior forward Justin Liatsis had a hat trick before the first horn had sounded and Eric Marr added the fourth. Brad Nimms scored the lone Falmouth goal in the 2nd period before Stoughton's Mike Gill put them on the board to make it 5-1. Gill collected his second of the night in the third along with PJ Lovett to make it 7-1 and give Falmouth their second straight tournament championship.
The Clippers will make their first home appearance on Thursday at 7:15 when they take on Nauset (2-2-0) in the first game of the Cape Cod Cup.

     Falmouth 7  -  Brockton 0
The Clipper's (1-1-0) started off their winning ways by dismantling the Boxers of Brockton (0-2-1)in the first round of the Ryan Bettencourt Memorial Tournament. The wealth was spread around as 7 different Clippers netted goals and Falmouth's first line of captain Chris Tholke, PJ Lovett and Eirc Marr each had a goal and 2 assist. Also picking up their first points of the season were Collin Reposa, Scott Truax, Justin Liatsis and Pat O'Brien with a goal each.

Falmouth will now play Stoughton in the finals and will be looking to win their second consecutive tournament championship. My advice to the team is don't make the same mistake as the team did 2 years ago when they underestimated Stoughton and had to come back to tie them. Play every game like your playing Barnstable and don't stop working. Game time should be 7:15 PM but I don't have and official time yet. Go Clippers!

12/16/01  Falmouth 0 vs BC High 7
The Clippers started of the 2001-02 season with a bang but unfortunately they weren't doing the shooting. Travelling to U Mass to take on #3 ranked BC High, the young Clippers dropped their season opener 7-0. The depth of the Eagles team was evident by the fact that seven different players lit the lamp. The Clippers trailed by 2 after the first period and were out shot by an 8-4 margin.
The second period was all BC High as they put 15 shots on goalie George Costa with 3 of those finding the twine while the Clippers didn't get a shot off.  Falmouth managed to shake off the second period and managed to even out the shots on net by putting 6 on net compared to 7 for BC but it was the Eagles the scored on 2 of those shots.
This young Clipper team now knows what they are up against and if they are to make a run for a State title should now realize what they will be up against. Revenge is sweet and Falmouth could have the opportunity to get it during the Cape Cod Classic in February when BC High will be in Falmouth as one of the 8 participating teams.
Falmouth's next game with be on Wednesday when they take on Brockton in the first round of the Ryan Bettencourt tournament in Bridgewater.
